Agility
Belle started me off on my journey into the unknown world of Agility, isn't that what Collies do? Well yes but so do loads of different breeds.
See even Westies. I remember the first time I took Belle to Staffs Agility for obedience I had rushed home from work, grabbed Belle into the car and bombed down the A52 to find the training area. Me in skirt and high heeled boots..yep I did not have a clue. Well we managed and everyone was so nice but as we were walking out they were getting the agility equipment out for the next class, we my eyes were popping out of there sockets and I started drooling thinking how nice it would have been to have a larger dog so I could have a go and then some small dogs came in and its was at that moment the Sun shone, I found out that its not just collies or even big dogs, here were little dogs coming to train, so I asked Lorraine and she explained that the small dogs had their own heights to jump and competed against each other as she told me more about it that was it I was hooked and as soon Belle was old enough we started training.
Well it was not the best of starts to an agility life but Belle put her heart and soul into it and we trained twice a week when she was well, she loved it, even on the days when she was not really well enough to train she would still go running between the front door and me when it was time to go and only on the proper days, so sometimes she trained when I did not really want her to, but she loved it so much and she loved all her friends there and she had plenty, especially Dillon, Gizom, Trooper and Delph.
Well Jade started her obedience had a couple of weeks hurt her leg and was then off until she was 12 months old. She started agility with only one back leg working but we had tried hydrotherapy but to no avail, westies and swimming don't really mix, so I asked my Vet and he said there was nothing to lose, so I asked the club and they said well as long as the Vet agrees lets try, and guess what...yep your right it worked and now Jade has full movement in her leg and no one can tell that she has had perthes disease in her right hip joint.
Jade is now competing and Opal has now started her training, I think part of the fun of agility is the friendship and camaraderie that everyone shares.
